Hansi & the history of the Hallerhaus

THE HOFBRÄU TEAM

Our aim is to offer you excellent food and first-class service.

To this end, we always endeavor to offer you a pleasant stay in our restaurant and to convey a piece of Bamberg’s way of life.

The team at Hofbräu Bamberg is looking forward to your visit.

THE HANSI

As landlord, host and managing director, Hansi Peßler has been fully behind the Hofbräu for over 30 years – so it’s no wonder that practically everyone in Bamberg knows who is meant by “Hansi” and what the saying “Geh mer zum Hansi” means.

The Bamberg native was born into the world of gastronomy. His father owned a brewery on Michelsberg and his parents met in the former “Blaue Glocke” restaurant. Obviously only a restaurateur could come out from under this star. Hansi already enjoyed being at the stove as a child. So what could be more obvious than continuing this passion and then opening a restaurant?

In addition to his passion for cooking and food, Hans Peßler has a second passion in his life: music. So it’s not surprising that he combines both passions and sometimes picks up the congas and gives it his all.

THE HALLERHAUS

The core of the three-storey sandstone ashlar building, formerly known as the Hallerhaus, dates back to 1600 and was given its current external appearance around 1730.

What was once a mint was converted into a café on the first floor by Anton Staller.

Today, the Hofbräu is a place of lively Franconian culinary culture, characterized by tradition and culinary passion.
